Cordless Phones - Analogue Versus Digital - Which Is Best? by Tyler

There are a number of cordless phone systems on the market today. Having a cordless phone system in the house gives us more flexibility. It means that we are not constrained to one area of the house whilst on the phone. This means that we not only have a choice of where we have our conversation, we are also afforded some privacy from others in a shared house. This often makes a chat much more relaxing being free to wander about and prevents us causing interruption to housemates or family activity too.
All, in all cordless phones have many benefits over the average landline. So, how do they actually work?
A base system connects to the mains electricity and the telephone line which comes into the property. The handset, when not in use needs to be kept on the base station as this is how it is charged. When away from the stand it loses battery. The range of a cordless system typically covers a domestic building across up to three floors and often works outside when close to the house.
There are two different kinds of cordless phone; analogue and digital. The analogue systems work via transmitting electrical impulses across the telephone wire to the main base set. These signals are then converted into the sound that we hear when someone speaks. These systems tap into a certain frequency and filter it to control what we hear.
The downside to this kind of system is that it can be subject to interference from other appliances which run on a similar frequency. There could also be issues with security as there is the possibility of other devices being able to pick up the same frequency, which means privacy could be affected.
Digital systems offer a much more secure solution as there is much less chance of interference on the line. This also means better, clearer sound quality across the line. They can be slightly more expensive than their analogue counterparts; however, paying the extra is worth it for a better system.
There is a large range of cordless phone systems with a variety of different features. They are commonplace in many homes and small businesses today and there are plenty of affordable sets to choose from. The best place to start is to determine the key functions that are necessary for you. Once you have decided this, check out some online comparison sites for further information.
